Minor League Equals Major Fun
Experience the major excitement of Rochester’s minor league teams! Home to baseball, basketball, hockey, football, soccer and lacrosse, the city offers a low-key, less commercialized haven for sports lovers of all ages. Reserve your tickets online, or ask our concierge for where to find the latest schedules.- Rochester Red Wings (Baseball): The Triple-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, the minor league Red Wings are the longest and oldest minor league franchise in American athletic history. The Red Wing play their season at Frontier Field, which opened its doors in 1996 in the city’s downtown area.
- Rochester RazorSharks (Basketball): Based out of Rochester’s Blue Cross Arena, the RazorSharks are a member of the Premier Basketball League’s East Division. The team was founded in 2005 as a part of the American Basketball Association, and won the PBL division title in 2008.
- Rochester Americans (Hockey): Fondly called the Rochester Amerks, this American Hockey League team plays its season at the Blue Cross Arena. Currently affiliated with the NHL Florida Panthers, the Americans have won the Calder Cup six times, most recently in 1996.
- Rochester Raiders (Arena Football): A member of the Indoor Football League, the Raiders – founded in 2006 – currently play their home games at the Blue Cross Arena. In 2007, the Raiders won the Continental Indoor Football League, of which they were formerly a member.
- Rochester Knighthawks (Indoor Lacrosse): Part of the National Lacrosse League, the Knighthawks play their games at Blue Cross Arena. The team was founded in 1995, nine years after the NLL itself was founded.
- Rochester Rhinos (Soccer): Founded in 1996, the Rhinos are a member of the USL First Division. The team currently plays at the recently built Paetec Park, constructed specifically for the Rhinos’ use.
